I‘d like to tell you about a Chinese TV series called “Life in the Alley” that I watched during this year’s Spring Festival with my family. It’s a heartwarming drama set in Suzhou, a beautiful city in eastern China during the late 1970s. The story primarily follows two families, who live in the residential area of a cotton mill factory. What makes this series particularly interesting is how it portrays these families' daily lives and relationships during a period of significant social change in China.I particularly like this series for several reasons. Firstly, the series beautifully captures the traditional neighborhood life in the 1970s. I was especially touched by the bonding relationships between neighbors, and friends in the show. I can feel a strong sense of community as people help each other through both good times and difficulties. Especially in today’s fast-paced world where such close community ties are becoming rare. Additionally. the series does an excellent job of showing the unique architecture of Suzhou like the narrow alleys and traditional houses, which I am crazy about.
